Serving Our Community

Feed the hungry…

Cafe of lifeCafé of Life

We are committed to supporting the Café of Life, a local food program that serves meals to those in need in our community. From the fall through the spring, volunteers from Christus Victor cook, deliver and serve meals to the Café of Life every Tuesday. If you are interested in serving, join us under the Banyan tree in Riverside Park, Bonita Springs at 10am on Tuesdays.

Food DonationsDSC00706

Year-round, we collect non-perishable food items for Bonita Assistance.  Donations can be left in the grocery carts and bins in the Narthex.  While any kind of food is welcome all the time (check expiration dates!), we have a special food collection item each month–check our monthly newsletter.

No Bake Sale

Don’t feel like baking? Each year around Palm Sunday we collect the money you might have spent on baked goods and donate it to ELCA World Hunger.

Clothe the Naked…

DSC00703Clothing Donations

In our Outreach Center, you’ll find a large bin for clothing donations.  New and gently used clothing can be left there at any time!  Once a week, Brother Ben from St. Leo’s picks up our donations for a weekly flea market, where local people can come and take whatever they need for free.

Undy Sunday

Every August, we collect underwear and socks to help clothe children as they prepare to go back to school.  Our donations mostly go to the public school system in Collier County.  Some go to Youth Haven and the Shelter for Abused Women and Children.

Christmas in July

We collect toys, clothing, and other basic items for Immokalee Friendship House during the summer, when their resources are much lower.

Heal the Sick…

Relay for Life

Every year Christus Victor supports this major fundraiser benefiting the American Cancer Society, and we are consistently one of the highest fund-raisers. The Relay Committee plans our involvement in the event, which usually happens in March or April. We are always looking for more members!

Lifeline Screening

In addition to having a parish nurse who periodically takes people’s blood pressure on Sundays, we also host a Lifeline Screening group, who makes various preventative medical testing available to people in the broader community.

Road Clean-up

The earth needs healing too!  Christus Victor is responsible for keeping a section of Old 41 clean. Meet under the Banyan Tree in Riverside Park in Bonita Springs at 8am on the first Saturday of the month to help us pick up trash along the road – all are welcome!

DSC00705Collect Pop Tabs

Bring in your aluminum pop tabs! We send them to Ronald McDonald House, a home away from home for seriously ill children.  Check out the buckets in our Outreach Room, too!  You might have others things lying around the house that we accept as donations.

Share Talents…

Computer Group

As the computer age becomes more and more prevalent, some of us are left in the dust! To help keep folks in the know, we host computer classes on Thursday nights from 7pm-9pm, taught by one of our members. We discuss both basic usage, and more complicated matters regarding computer management. We also try to share advice, and solve each others’ computer problems. During the season we conduct a beginners’ basics course, beginning anew every January. All are welcome, members and non.

DSC00699Small Change Ministry

Small change can lead to big changes!  In our narthex (lobby) you can find a small white model church where you can lighten your pockets or purse of small change.  The donations are given quarterly to local charities, including Cafe of Life, Relay for Life, Immokalee Friendship House/St. Matthew’s House, Lutheran Outdoor Ministries, Bonita Assistance, and the Guadalupe Center.
